Race Report from Ginetta Junior Championship at Oulton Park

Sophia Floersch defended 4th place overall

Munich/Oulton, 9/6/2015:

Race weekend at Oulton, Cheshire (England). Both races of the Kick-Start Energy Ginetta Junior Championship of the "Round 4" took place on Sunday afternoon, 7 June. I started the first race from P3. Unfortunately, I got a bad start and lost 1 to 2 positions at the start.
In the following duels it went backwards and forwards. By position fights I arrived shortly back to P3, but lost the position again in the scramble and ended the race behind the three leading championship drivers on the 4th place. So I was still the fastest rookie.

In the second race I started in the second row of the external position, because the starting order depends on the results of the first race. The day before we had problems with the gear and my car got a new one. To prevent a failure, I was to defensive in the first round. After one lap I regained the fourth place again and made me to the pursuit of the leading trio.
In two laps I nearly closed the two seconds gap, the first one even was the fastest race lap. Just wanted to pass as the third place, the safety car was called out on the track due to an accident. The race was run until the end behind the safety car. Unfortunately, so no further improvement was possible, even though the car ran great now. So I finished fourth again and was once again the best rookie.

My conclusion: After Thruxton my best result with 2 times 4th place. First place in rookie rankings on both race days as well in the championship. Still 4th place in the overall standings. And best of all: I know I can do it much better.

So Croft - here I come!

Keep racing
