Race Report from Ginetta Junior Championship at Croft

Sophia Floersch with Pole Premiere and 3rd place in overall standings

Munich/Croft, 27-28/06/2015:

Croft is one of my favorite tracks. Here I drove a GINETTA G40 for the first time. It's the home track of HHC Motorsports and I was able to complete a day of testing last weekend - with good times.

In the WarmUp race weekend I had bad luck: I have been dropped 2 rounds from the final ranking, also the fastest, because in a curve I was in the meadow with one wheel.

On Saturday my qualifying was perfect. I achieved a very good time and was already in front in the 5th round. Then it was very close. With 1/10 sec residue I dropped back to position 6. Eventually I secured pole position with 0.133 sec on teammate Jamie Caroline and 0.197 sec on teammate Patrick Matthiesen.

In Race 1 I started quite well, but Jamie was better on the outside lane. He took a lot of momentum into the first right curve and overtook me. I then immediately stuck to him, but could not pass him and finished on second place.

My start in Sunday's race from P2 was good. But this was not enough to pass Jamie before the first corner. At the same Billy Monger closed the gap behind him. I had to line up on P3 behind them and went as quickly as possible past Billy Monger. I overtook him, but in the struggle we both lost two positions. A few laps later I was again third, now Hornby was in front of me. Then I closed the gap to P2, and badly wanted to overtake him, but I found no way pass and crossed the finish line as third.

In other words, I am now on 3rd place in the Championship, after subtraction of the two lowest scores I'm even on place 2 and throughout the Rookie competition I'm still first. So: A super weekend for the whole HHC team and the best result for me after Oulton.

Now is BTTC-summer break.
But I train anyway. I'm really feeling happy for next year: F4 here I come!

Keep racing
