Sophia Floersch withdrawing from the GINETTA JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP at the summer break

Sophia Floersch is not pursuing her success in the GINETTA JUNOR CHAMPIONSHIP (GJC) – instead she is turning her full focus on the F4.

Munich, 21/07/2015:

After careful consideration with all involved partners, the 14-year-old race car driver from Munich, Germany decided together with her management to end her participation in the GJC series. All her time, energy and budget resources in the second half of the year will be devoted to the Formula 4. “It was always my goal to train as hard as possible this year for the Formula 4 2016 season. I completed ten races in the GJC. I think I was very successful and showcased my talent well in this series. I proved that women are fast and can compete in difficult races!” Sophia's partners and management constantly reexamine her motorsports commitments.

Also due to certain decisions within the team, it became necessary to consider a new direction and place a greater focus on Formula racing to get the best value for money. “I'm a little disappointed as well, but this way I'm free to focus on the F4. It's simply too bad that the GJC championships don't get much attention in Germany. Sponsors don't know the series at all,” said Sophia Floersch, adding: “But I had a lot of fun competing in the GJC. The English fans are wonderful. I already miss my racing car 'Paul' and Gaz – the world's best mechanic!”

The young race car driver will now devote the next few months entirely to Formula 4 tests, simulator training and intensive fitness work.

Keep racing
